Avon River Metalworks is owned and operated by metal artist and fabricator Al Simm. Based in the beautiful Annapolis Valley region of Nova Scotia, famous for its apple orchards and wide open spaces, the area provides endless inspiration for unique pieces of art.
Using a variety of metals including steel, aluminum and copper Al incorporates found, discarded and recycled materials into his sculptures.

Al was honoured to be part of this international pairing of memorial installations commemorating the journey of Canadian soldiers who fought overseas in the First World War.
The Last Steps Memorial in Halifax reflects on the final journey from Nova Scotia while The Canada Gate in Passchendaele, Belgium recognizes Canada's effort in the battle near Flander's Field.
